Camellia oil is becoming an increasingly popular hair care product. However, it was also used in ancient times by Japanese geishas who wished to strengthen and hydrate their hair. They applied the camellia oil directly to their brush before passing it through their hair.

HOW TO USE CAMELIA OIL ON HAIR

It’s best to apply camellia oil after washing and drying your hair. Once your hair is completely dry, place 4 or 5 drops of virgin camellia oil in the palms of your hands and distribute it throughout the hair, paying particular attention to the ends. With this method, in which only a very small amount will be needed per application, one bottle of Acemelia camellia oil will last for several months.

SCIENTIFIC RESULTS

Scientific studies indicate that camellia oil is beneficial for hair because it is very rich in oleic acid (almost 82% of its fatty acid composition, even higher than olive oil), a monounsaturated omega-3 fatty acid. It also contains a high concentration of other essential fatty acids such as linoleic acid (omega-6). It also has antibacterial (Kim et al. 2001) and antioxidant (Onodera et al. 2006, Piao et al. 2011) properties.

Camellia oil contains essential agents for retaining and improving hair moisture. These are capable of penetrating deeply into the lower layers, helping to rejuvenate the hair and leave it looking shiny and healthy.

Together with the moisturising power of squalene, highly valued in cosmetics for its rapid absorption (He et al. 2010), this gives camellia oil its distinctive texture and exceptional hydrating properties—without leaving a greasy residue.
